Within the Faculty of Computing, Engineering & Technology there's Entertainment Technology. Within Entertainment Technology there's Film Technology, Music Technology and Computer Games. And, teaching those subjects, are over 150 academics. Hopefully you've got the idea it's pretty big by now. After all, the faculty's one of the largest in the UK! And here's why.
Designed to introduce graduates to the principles of technology and the application of complex technological solutions, our courses support the development of business awareness across a range of media and entertainment industries. And there's a whole host of facilities we're very proud of.
Beaconside, our Stafford campus, has recently invested £850,000 in a new full-broadcast SDI studio that boasts more gizmos and gadgets than Darth Vader's Death Star! And if you don't believe us, just read on.
For those of you who understand all the techno-mumbo-jumbo, the three-camera studio has a 100 sq metre studio floor, tiered seating for 100+, three 16x9 Sony DXC-D50 camera heads fitted with CA-D50 SDI studio adaptors all of which are mounted on Vinten Pro-peds with Vision 250 heads.
But that's not all...
...our studio signalling runs via a racks room, complete with CCUs, waveform monitor, matrix and streaming interface...
...our gallery's kitted out with Autocue, Pinnacle Deko graphics, ForA Ginga VPS700 switcher and effects, Sony D50 CCU engineering remotes and DSR-1500 DVCam recording and play-out facilities.
...our audio area is a 24 way Alice Soundtech mixer with Tascam professional CD player and minidisc recorder...
...oh, and the lighting's controlled through a 48 channel Strand Genius Pro Light Palette. No bad eh? We like to think it's pretty snazzy, too.
